Last week my Oklahoma History Classes ate the Oklahoma State Meal.  In the first days we looked at Oklahoma State Emblems.  Instead of memorizing the State Meal - I thought it would be more fun to eat it!

So everyone brought an item - We had a feast!  Here is what is on the list:
  • Barbeque Pork
  • Country Fried Steaks
  • Corn
  • Cornbread
  • Grits
  • Black Eyed Peas

Assassinat Vaction by Sarah Vowell

I heard about this book this weekend, and it sounds like a great book to read!  Especially for APUSH students!  This author took her kids on a summer vacation to see the places of three presidents and where they were assassinated.  She is a great story teller, and will make you laugh.  Two stories she tells are:
1.  President Lincoln's son fell on train tracks, and a man saved him.  It was John Wilkes Booth's Dad!
2.  President Lincoln's son was present at 3 Presidents assassination - His Father's, Garfield's, and McKinley's.

It is now on bucket list - I hope you'll read it!

Amazing Valentine Stuffed Animal Drive!

The Latin American Society had a Stuffed Animal Drive to give to sick kids at a Children's Hospital on Valentine's Day!  When I heard this I knew I had to help!  So I offered extra credit to bring a stuffed animal.  The response was fantastic!  Check out the photos below:

Great Civil War Books!

There are some Great Books about the Civil War.  Listed below are 3 books that will give you great outside knowledge for the AP Exam!

1. Team of Rivals

This is a great book about Abraham Lincoln and the people he choose to surround himself during the Civil War.  That is what I love about Lincoln it didn't matter if he liked them he cared if they were right man for the job!

2. April 1865: The Month That Saved America

I have this book in my personal library, and I cannot speak more highly of it,  It covers every day in April 1865, and shows how the Union stayed together.  In the beginning of the Month the Civil War was won by the North, but then 5 days later President Lincoln is assassinated and things go crazy!

3. Manhunt

This is a fantastic read about the hunt for Lincoln's killer!  It will not disappoint!
