Visit Italy

I was called to make a post about Italy.  I wanted to highlight this mesmerizing country!  I have had the great honor of visiting four times!  And I would go back!  I have never spent a long time there.  All of my trips have been tours.

This country is worth a visit!  If nothing else the food! The food is so good!  It will make you look at Italian Restaurants differently!  They cannot compare to the real thing!  Here are pics of two meals I had in Italy.  The first is a photo of gnocchi in Florence.  It is a potato pasta and so delicious!  The second is bruschetta in Rome.  This was the BEST bruschetta I have ever had!

Italy is a fashion capital of the world!  So ladies you can do some GREAT shopping!  Here is a store window I took a photo of on the Isle of Capris.

The best part of going to Italy is the ruins!  You go to these places that are thousands of years old.  You can feel the history!  When you walk around the Roman Coliseum you can't but help to feel where you are!  I kept touching the walls - so I knew I was there!  Another spot you need to go is Pompeii.  This is an ancient Roman city that is intact!  In 79 C.E. it was destroyed by Mt. Vesuvius (a volcano) It was covered by 100 feet of volcanic ash.  I cannot imagine what that must of been like, but you get to walk around this ancient city, and see what it looked like!

I was trying to be artsy!  I am very proud of this photo!

Pompeii with the volcano in the background!

Isle of Capris.  So beautiful!  Jay Z and BeyoncĂ© vacation here!

You can see famous artwork - The David, The Birth of Venus, and the Sistine Chapel.

I took this photo looking up!

One of the best movies about Italy is Roman Holiday.  Watch it - you'll want to go!

Flocabulary

This is a GREAT tool!  I heard about this from another teacher, and had to share!  With all the technology out there - you have so many resources at your fingertips!  The internet alone has a plethora of resources, but you must be driven!  Driven to search out these resources!  This quality will help you stand out in life, and will be impressive!

If you are struggling in a subject - search out help!  Whether it is a tutor, another book, or a YouTube video.  When the Supreme Court Justice came in the Fall that is one thing she addressed.  She talked about Physics being a struggle.  So what did she do?  She went to the library and found a book that explained Physics in a different way.  In a way she understood!  That shows initiative and drive!

These are your grades!  Do not let a difficult subject stop you, or prevent you from striving for excellence!

A great site to help with a struggle is Flocabulary.  They take almost every subject, and use hip hop and rap to review a topic.  I think it is brilliant!  And could be really useful!  They are using different strategies to help students get it!

You can also search for their videos on YouTube.  To give you an idea here is a video from them.  In World History we are covering the Industrial Revolution, and I showed my students this video.

Everybody Has A Story

I was posting Everybody Has A Story with Steve Hartman, but that got replaced by On The Road Again with Steve Hartman.  This weeks episode will make you cry!  I cried! I always cry!  I wish everyone is like this little boy!  It is a GREAT message!  And I truly believe if you are blessed in your life - you MUST share that blessing!  Give back!  Pay it forward!  What would this world be like if we all were like that!

Oklahoma Words

I just saw this article on Facebook, and thought I had to share!  This article takes words that mean one thing to the rest of the world, but something completely different to Oklahoma.  When you read these you will see the truth.  It is a fun read!

Tutoring

Do not be afraid to ask for help!  if you are struggling grasping something seek out help!  I am not good at math an science.  For me to succeed I had to find tutors.  I needed that extra one on one time!  It was a life saver!

There are many resources out there you can tap into.  One great thing you can do is find someone in each class that could help you.  Find them, and exchange numbers.  Then don't be afraid to call them when you need their help.  Second their are clubs that will tutor BTW students.  One that will is National Honor Society.  Go to their sponsor and find out details!

Again it is all there for you!  You just have to have the drive to find the possibility!  These are your grades - do not be shy to find help if you need it!  We all need help!

Finally the Tulsa Library has free tutoring for students!  These are professionals who want to help!  This would be a great resource to have!  Call on them if you need to!  The link is below.
