Show Kindness

In Detroit, high school students are volunteering to serve as pallbearers at the funerals of homeless veterans who have no family to honor them.

This initiative, called the Pallbearer Ministry, began in 2015 when a group of six seniors from the University of Detroit Jesuit High School decided to step in and offer a dignified farewell to veterans who passed away alone.

Since then, the program has grown, and over 50 students have been trained to assist at these services. Each student learns about the life and military service of the veteran before the funeral, which helps them connect more deeply with the person they are honoring.

By participating, the students provide a final act of respect for those who served the country but had no family to carry their casket. The experience is not only a way to show respect to the deceased but also offers the students valuable lessons in empathy, dignity, and community service.

The program has become an important reminder that every life has worth, and that even those who may have been forgotten by society deserve to be treated with dignity in their final moments. Through their involvement, the students are learning to reflect on the significance of service and the impact they can make on others, particularly those who are marginalized.

This small act of kindness highlights the value of community and the importance of standing together to support those in need.

We Will NEVER Forget!

24 years ago the unthinkable happened on 9/11/2001.  America was attacked by the Taliban and Osma Bin Lade.  The Twin Towers in NYC, the Pentagon in D.C., and they wanted to attack the White House, but the passengers of that plane took control and crashed the plane.

There is SO MUCH to know about 9/11, but for AP US History you need to know 9/11 started the War on Terror, and so much changed in America.  Congress passed the Patriot Act allowing much to happen in America!  Here is a documentary made about the Patriot Act called Foreweigh 9/11

Below is the trailer for a moment that was America's first response to 9/11.

Jon Stewart a famous comedian used his position to help the first responders of 9/11 18 years later.  He testified infront of Congress about their needs.  We do not have time in class to watch it - so please watch here!

He had a response on Stephen Colbert.  So funny, and he has the best argument:

Who ever took this photo is brilliant!

How Bad Do You Want It?

I WANT you to PASS the APUSH Exam, and you CAN!!!! I believe in you! To pass this test, you need two things:

1, a teacher who cares, and you got that! I am going to bring my A game every day!

2, you must study outside this classroom. I wish you could just come in here and listen, but that is not enough.

So how bad do you want it? How hard are you willing to work?

Get a prep book. The favorite is AMSCO, but they are all fantastic! Can you read for five minutes a day? I would say yes.

Watch a video. Read an article online. You got this!
