This Day In History

March 6

As the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary, learn more about Jean Blackwell Hutson, chief of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture from 1948 to 1980. As chief, Hutson carried the vision of Schomburg Center namesake Arturo Schomburg and rose to the occasion to future-proof and financially support the Schomburg Center. Check out this episode of Live From the Reading Room, we focus on the early life and career of Mrs. Hutson with Sharon Fitzgerald.
