February 5,  1934

On this day in 1934, Henry Louis “Hank” Aaron Jr., was born in Mobile, Alabama. “Hammerin’ Hank” broke Babe Ruth’s home run record when he knocked career home run 715 out the park. Though that record has since been broken, he still holds the records for most career runs batted in (RBI’s) with 2,297, most career total bases with 6,856, and most career extra base hits at 1,477.

On this day in 1996, the Republican Party selects Oklahoma representative J. C. Watts to respond to President Bill Clinton’s recent State of the Union Address. Watts was the first African-American to do the response.

February is Black History Month!  To celebrate this month every this day in history will be a moment in black history.  Also I will highlight moments in Black History.

Marian Anderson

On Easter Sunday 1939 Marian Anderson sang at the Lincoln Memorial in D.C.  She was the BEST singer in the world and the Daughter's of yhe American Revolution denied her singing at their venue.  So members in the government organized a singing at the Lincoln Memorial.

On this day in 1870, the Fifteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States was ratified, guaranteeing the right to vote regardless of race and intending to ensure, with the Fourteenth Amendment, the civil rights of former slaves.
