Civil Rights Museum in Memphis

Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis!   They have turned that place in a Civil Rights Museum!  If you ever get a chance to go - GO!  I went in 2014 and I checked in on Facebook, and wrote I am on Sacred Ground!  Which you are!  They kept his hotel room exactly as is - so YOU can see what it looked like!

Martin Luther King Jr.'s room has it was left!

The actual SPOT where it happened!

Mr. and Miss Hornet 2020 - 2021

One of the greatest traditions at Booker T is the coronation of Mr. and Miss Hornet.  It is so special and a BIG deal! My first one in 2005 Alumni came in ball gowns and tuxes!  I was so surprised!  This is so much more than Homecoming Court!  And at the heart of it the Student Body picks who Mr. and Miss Hornet are!  I am so GLAD teachers have no say in the matter!  This is the most important boy and girl at the Hive!

This year the ceremony was different due to Covid!  They had a coronation but for a small crowd.  They did it film it, and put it on Youtube!  My heart is breaking for the Seniors!  I know the significance of this moment!

The Function of Education!

This is my favorite speech MLKJr. did.  This was his last speech, and he was assassinated the next day!  When he says "somewhere I read" he is talking about the U.S. Constitution!  And watch when he is done - he just walks off stage!

A great movie about Selma!
