Talk to your family!

I always encourage my students to get to know their family!  Talk to them, and ask questions about their life!  Your Grandparents, Aunts, or Uncles want to talk to you!

What I love to ask about is history. I talk to my Grandparents about growing up during the Great Depression, or being a teenager during WWII.  In one conversation my Grandmother was telling me what she thought when she saw television for the first time.  She hated it, and thought it would never amount to anything!  She now has 3 in her house today!

By asking questions you find out about your family, and learn about history first hand!  Go call your Grandparents now!

Every American Deserves Their Rights

Harvey Milk is the biggest champion for Human Rights!  He believed in every American having freedom!  He asked Americans to fight for their Democracy!  I am so glad that there are brave people out there who will put their life on the line!  What are you willing to die for?

Tulsa Honor Flight

Exciting News!  Honor Flight is happening April 30th!  They are leaving that morning, and returning that evening!  They want as many people as they can get to give them their Hero's Welcome Back!

I have gone twice, and it is the most Patriotic thing I have ever done!  Those men are Rock Stars!  I always think what did they look like during the war?  What did they do?

If you can you should go!  It is an amazing experience!

MS Walk 2014

Saturday is the MS Walk!  I am so pumped!  Don't forget we are Team Tutu - so if you have one don't forget to rock it!

The Walk starts at 9 am at Veteran's Park and then going to Spaghetti Warehouse for lunch!  I will be at the food tent by 830!  Hope to see you there!

Here is the link to register for the walk:

Honor Flight

Last week all of my classes wrote Thank You letters to WW2 Vets.  I love this because a real WW2 Vet will read it!  In a few weeks an Honor Flight will happen in Tulsa.  Honor Flight takes a WW2 Vet and a caretaker to see the WW2 Memorial in D.C. free of charge.

I asked the students why is it important to thank a veteran?  I loved the response of every class!  They said because they fight because they want to!  They put their life on the line for our freedom!

So the next time you see a veteran say Thank You!

The letters they wrote!
