The Danger Of A Single Story - TED Talk

This is a FANTASTIC TED Talk if you have never seen it!  The TED Talk speaks to first judgements all HUMANS have and how that leads to stereotypes that are dangerous!  Stereotypes are damaging due to being incomplete!  Such a fascinating look at how we judge people and how it can be wrong!

In APUSH the British in Unit 2 practiced Racial Stereotyping!

This is more funny, but they talk about stereotypes!

Sam Noble Museum of Natural History in Norman!

The outside of the Sam Noble Museum

The little dinosaur is the State Fossil of Oklahoma!  I took a selfie with him!

The big Skelton in the back is a Columbian mammoth!  They lived in Western Oklahoma!

They had an exhibit of the first people of Oklahoma.  I was in teacher heaven!  This early person is holding an Atlatl which allowed them to throw spears farther!

My husband is an archeologist, so we decided to have a day trip to Norman to see the Sam Noble!  It was unbelievable, and a true GEM!  Cannot believe this museum is in Oklahoma!  Go if you can!

Stroud, Oklahoma

The WORST Tornado in Oklahoma History was on May 3, 1999 in the Oklahoma History!  It could change, but NOW this is it!  Over 70 tornados touched down in Oklahoma that night!  One of them was a F5 tornado that caused so much damage and destruction!  All together after it was said and done 44 people died that night and $1.2 Billion in damage! Here is the F5 Tornado that hit the fateful night!

Here is a video describing how tornadoes form!

To show my age I was a Junior in high school on that fateful night!  I was 17 years old, and I was freaked out!  This was National news, and the national weatherman interrupted national broadcasting, and said if you live in Tulsa, Ok take cover!  Let the Panic begin!  Tulsa was lucky!  When the tornadoes got to Tulsa they just disappeared and went back into the blue sky!

The saddest part to me is the Stroud Shopping Center!  It is a visible reminder of that horrible day!  The Stroud Shopping Center is right off the interstate.  It is just an empty lot!  Breaks my heart every time I see it!
