The WORST Tornado in Oklahoma History was on May 3, 1999 in the Oklahoma History! It could change, but NOW this is it! Over 70 tornados touched down in Oklahoma that night! One of them was a F5 tornado that caused so much damage and destruction! All together after it was said and done 44 people died that night and $1.2 Billion in damage! To show my age I was a Junior in high school on that fateful night! I was 17 years old, and I was freaked out! This was National news, and the national weatherman interrupted national broadcasting, and said if you live in Tulsa, Ok take cover! Let the Panic begin! Tulsa was lucky! When the tornadoes got to Tulsa they just disappeared and went back into the blue sky!
The saddest part to me is the Stroud Shopping Center! It is a visible reminder of that horrible day! The Stroud Shopping Center is right off the interstate. It is just an empty lot! Breaks my heart every time I see it!
