19th Amendment

I am shocked!!!!  Women got the right to vote in 1919 with a constitutional amendment, the 19th Amendment.  It was a Progressive Amendment. And I wander it should not even have taken that long!  Women should have gotten the right to vote in 1783 at the Constitutional Convention when America was founded!  Abigail Adams had it right when she told her husband, John Adams, Remember The Ladies!

The fight for Women's Right began in 1848 at the Seneca Falls Convention, and went till 1919 with the 19th Amendment.  And many would argue Women are still fighting!  Below is my favorite poster created during the early 20th Century:

They have made some great movies of the fight.  Here is the trailer for Suffragette highlighting the fight for Women to get the right to vote!

This next one is a FANTASTIC movie, and it is on YouTube!
